A hundred years of Lebanese stamps, a collection of stories
The tiny “official” piece of paper that is the stamp has transformed the world and enhanced exchanges between men for more than a century and a half, before giving way to the virtual world. A collection of stamps is also a collection of stories; a collection of stamps from Lebanon is a certain reading of our history. The French word for “stamp”, “timbre”, also refers to the sound quality of the voice, that same voice that tells all these stories.
Co-written with Tania Arwachan, the book “100 années de timbres, une collection d’histoires du Liban” presents all stamps issued in Lebanon since 1919. Grouped by series of issue, the stamps have been reproduced at a scale of 1/1, and are accompanied for each year with philatelic, historical or literary anecdotes.
