Georges Boustany | Avant d’oublier | Livre 2

A Crimson Cover, so that we won’t forget

Georges Boustany’s second volume of Avant d’oublier (Before I forget) is crimson, like the dried blood that smeared Beirut the day after August 4; like the shattered tiles, the splattered walls, the smoke no one can ever forget; crimson like the nightmares that have haunted the Beirutis ever since; and like Alexandra's dress, a little angel torn from the love of her parents.

In the same vein as the first volume of his book and his chronicles for L’Orient-Le Jour, this book is an open door to a Lebanon of the past, frozen in photos by anonymous and amateurs.
