Abandoned Dwellings:
A History of Beirut

Abandoned Dwellings: A History of Beirut is a multi-layered book by Gregory Buchakjian that crowns a trans-disciplinary project undertaken by the artist for nearly 10 years. The book presents findings and analysis of an in-depth research and a PhD thesis devoted to abandoned dwellings.

It also displays Buchakjian’s artistic project on the topic, photographic tableaux that depict a subject in the rubble of these abandoned habitats.

Published by Kaph books and designed in 2 languages (French and English), the book was launched together with its eponymous exhibition at Sursock Museum in November 2018.
