Scripts and Calligraphy: A Timeless Journey

An exploration of the purest form in islamic art spanning fifteen centuries

In 2020, the "Year of Arabic Calligraphy" initiative has been launched in Saudi Arabia to highlight one of the main components of Arab culture and increase its practice in institutions and among Saudi citizens.
Scripts and Calligraphy: A Timeless Journey exhibition and its publication present the origins of the Arabic script and the development of the art of calligraphy. The book highlights the stages of the Arabic Script's development since its very beginnings and the artistic relationship between calligraphy, contemporary art, and artificial intelligence through an exceptional journey of knowledge, featuring Saudi and international master calligraphers, contemporary artists, and designers.

Co-published in July 2021 by Kaph books and KSA’s Ministry of Culture, designed in two languages (English and Arabic), the book is richly illustrated with works by local and international calligraphy masters and includes contributions by calligraphy and Art specialists and historians.
