The Silent Age of Singularity: On Time, Technology, and the Vanishing Self

In 2024, -scope Ateliers collaborated with Kaph Books and Misk Art Institute (Riyadh, KSA) on the publication design for The Silent Age of Singularity, an ambitious exhibition exploring the seismic cultural and artistic shifts brought about by the advent of the internet and the digital age. Presented through the work of 20 international artists, the show investigates how communication, knowledge-sharing, and artistic expression have been transformed by technology—from satellites and television to the emergence of Creative Singularity. Our studio developed the design and layout of the book and established a flexible editorial template and system to serve as the basis for future exhibition publications by the Institute.

Strikingly bold and instantly recognizable, the book’s fluorescent cover palette and vividly colored page edges offer a tactile and visual metaphor for the exhibition’s themes of visibility, saturation, and digital saturation. Some of these distinctive features were carefully integrated into the publication guidelines, becoming part of a long-term visual identity strategy for Misk’s editorial output. Balancing structure and expression, the design system allows each show to maintain its own visual rhythm while aligning with the Institute’s overarching publishing ethos.
